For users whose goal is simply to begin collecting consistent observations as quickly as possible, the commercial premium can represent good value. The purchase effectively outsources much of the integration work that DIY builders must perform themselves.

The most common budgeting mistake is assuming that hardware dominates total project cost. In reality, after the initial purchase, hundreds of hours of installation, maintenance, software updates, troubleshooting and environmental management can easily outweigh the savings from buying lower-cost components.
